Here at MDT we have fully qualified and certified dog trainers who have completed both NDIS training and registration and are experienced in working with participants with all types of disabilities. Our team boasts expert dog trainers who are also certified disability workers, primary school educators who are licensed to provide capacity building services.

Even if you don’t have a dog, we can provide the participant with one of our fully trained dogs to suit your individual needs. If you don’t have a dog of your own and feel that a dog would really benefit your current needs, our NDIS dog trainers can assist participants and by providing a fully trained companion therapy dog or even help you find, choose and train the right dog for your lifestyle.

We can assist you with;

  • Recreational walking support
    • We can accompany the participant on walks with a dog providing opportunities to build confidence, teach social skills, encourage communication with other people in a safe manner.
  • Psychology visitations
    • DAT (dog assisted therapy) involves the use of dogs to help people improve their mental and emotional well-being. It can treat a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, autism, ADHD.
  • Providing companionship on outings and social events
    • Help participants with community participation, engage in social and recreational activities with a dog. Eg, develop friendships at local dog parks and coffee shops and meet ups.
  • Participating in animal-assisted therapy programs
    • Providing a dog that can help those in need of developing social skills and emotional regulation.

A local area coordinator (LAC) can help you create and implement your NDIS plan. LACs can help you understand the NDIS and your current situation, supports, and goals. They can also help you build capacity to make your own decisions and choices.

If you don’t have a dog of your own, our NDIS dog trainers can assist participants by providing a fully trained companion therapy dog or even help you find, choose and train the right dog for your lifestyle. 

Absolutely! Just give us a call and one of our staff will come and visit you in your home to discuss how MDT can help you with your NDIS goals. 

An NDIS planner can help you achieve your goals, but you can also self-manage all or part of your NDIS funding. Self-managing gives you the flexibility to try new things and change your supports.  

Money from your NDIS plan budget will be paid into your bank account, where you can then pay your provider directly. If necessary, you can pay your provider first with your own money and then make a payment request through the myplace portal or the my NDIS app.
